Pioneer Pipeline

 troop24.org

April 2008

Spring is here, the flowers are starting to come up, and the birds are back.  The change of season means it’s time for a 2nd term Senior Patrol Leader, to plan Spring Community Service projects, start the series of Summer Camp meetings, sell tickets for Strawberry Festival and enjoy the nice weather for camping.  This month we celebrate the 1 year anniversary of the Pioneer Pipeline.  I hope you have found it to be helpful and informative.

Whats New?

·        Congratulations to Charlie Cappelli!  Our new 2nd term Senior Patrol Leader.  He will be assisted by Andrew Sooy and Kyle Connison.  Thanks to Nate Getzow and his assistants for their great job in leading our troop.

·        Mr. Andrew Morey (Carson’s Dad) is the newest member of our team of Assistant Scoutmasters.  Thank you, in advance, for your time and dedication.

·        Do you have any troop’s camping equipment at your house?  If so, please contact the Quartermasters, Sue or Jenn, and let them know. Sue can be contacted at sjbralynski@yahoo.com or Jenn can be contacted at 215-766-3763.

·        The Venture Group’s AT hike is scheduled for May 9th and 10th.  They will be starting their hike at the beginning of Section 1 (Delaware Water Gap) and end the 15.5 miles at Wind Gap.  The hikers need drivers for drop off and pick up.  If you are interested in hiking or driving, please contact Rich Madison, madisongang@verizon.net or Jim Kilgannon at jimk@pil.net.

·        The Quartermasters need help from a few adults and a few older scouts.  They will be cleaning out and reorganizing the equipment closets, in the Scout Room, on April 5th at 9:00 am.  Some items will be boxed up and taken into the basement of the church.  Please contact Sue at 215-489-1294 if you can help.

·        The Quartermasters are looking for some handy people.  We need volunteers to measure and build shelving, in the church’s basement, for our extra equipment.  The shelves can be either wood or a metal cabinet.  If you have the skills, tools, or time, please contact Sue Bryalinski at the above contacts.

·        The Quartermasters are looking for more Scout Quartermasters.  If you need a job, in the troop, then please contact Mr. Palardy or Charlie.

·        Does the Troop have the book for the First Aid Merit Badge?  Now, see the entire list of Merit Badge books on the website.  Look at Merit Badge Info and click Troop 24 Library.  If you have any books at home, and the merit badge is complete, please donate them to the Troop’s Library.  Contact George Ingoglia, Troop Librarian, at dudewelp@comcast.net.  Thanks George for setting this up!

·        The Weekend Camping trip, in May, has changed locations.  The Troop will camp at Washington’s Crossing State Park.  Mike Bober will be leading a 10 mile hike.  Bring your bicycles and bike the tow path.

·        Mr. Tom White and Mr. Mike Bowen are offering the Space Exploration Merit Badge.  The Scouts will meet for 3 classes (March 31, April 14 and April 28) and then shoot their rockets off on Sunday, April 20 and May 11, at Tinicum Park, at 2:00 pm.  You may launch your rockets at one or both Sundays.  Come out and see our Rocket Men!  Contact them if you want to be a part of this fun.  Mr. White, 215-489-8719 or Mr. Bowen, 215-489-8866
